I hope my review can emphasize the importance of kettlebell training/stretching in our senior years. I first connected to Dan and Baltimore Kettlebell Club through a senior center. I had just retired and was excited to finally have the time to properly exercise and wanted to do it correctly. I immediately loved Dan's program. He challenged the class without intimidation or judgment. His messages made you want to do well. I continued the program outside of the senior center because it was a one-time deal. Fast forward six years later and I still love the class, look forward to attending and love the benefits. Recently I fell when my flip-flop got caught, ironically, on a "caution" tape marking a step up to another room in a rental house. I fell hard. It was a ceramic floor over concrete. I hit every part of my body you can imagine - shoulder; hand; elbow; knee; and ankle. I did not break or injure any bone in my body. I credit the strength training with this fact. As a bonus, I could get myself up! I highly recommend the Strength After Sixty Program.

Dan is an exceptional teacher, mentor, educator and coach. I became acquainted with Dan through a program for seniors and came to completely trust his direction. His 15+yrs working with seniors allows him to anticipate obstacles and identify barriers presented by that age group. Dan works with a holistic approach and a "can do" attitude. He patiently explains how and why the body functions and teaches the advantages of weight training in a spectacular way backing his statements with actual accomplishments both in history and in his personal experience. He helps you to believe in your capabilities. Dan is non-judgmental & willing to listen lest he misinterpret your inquiry. He generates a family atmosphere in the gym creating an experience of accomplishment with a good time. He concentrates on technique to provide safety in all exercise maneuvers. I shared my concern about stiffness with Dan and he recommended mobility classes. He rescued me from frailty! Six weeks into the mobility classes I had a sudden breakthrough that unlocked my hip flexor and I am now at 83 years, walking and moving like I did 30 years ago. I attribute my success to his understanding and mentoring. Working with Dan to achieve flexibility and strength has been an outstanding experience and one that I wish more seniors would take on to improve their later years. Gracious thanks Dan!

To be upfront, I turned 75 in June.  Back in November of 2021 I was diagnosed with needing spinal fusion surgery for constant sciatica-like pain that ran down from my lower back all the way to my right foot.  I delayed having surgery as honestly the idea of it creeped me out.  A friend who is also a member of the Baltimore Kettlebell Club, recommended trying the Strength after Sixty group instead.  I am happy to report my efforts have paid off!  The pain and soreness are gone, and any sensitivity is barely noticeable.  I have stopped using pain medicines with the exception of sometimes taking a prophylactic dose before training.  I'd be fooling myself to think the spinal problem had magically gone away, but here's the most important point...  Through kettlebell training I am building strength to compensate for the issue.  When my brother had hip replacement surgery in his forties, he was told that he had to exercise to get his life back to normal.  The same is true for me now.  Muscles are the skeletal system's best friend.  Finally I need to say that Dan is an amazing trainer.  Under his watchful eye and constant encouragement, he has helped me to gain the confidence to grow in strength.  Most of all he has helped me to get my life back to normal.
